Lemongrass, again...
These shall forever be know as "those socks"...

The socks I spent many tries getting perfect. And now I think they are, pretty perfect. Just a little stitch pattern from the mind of Yahaira... I think it might become a race, who can finish them first... Her's in sock candy, mine in medium weight str. Even the color ways are close, my aren't we twins!

Love the toe. I prefer my toes, to be shallow and rounded instead of long and pointy. This sock is only 52 stitches around and is knit on 2's. I think I have found the way to prevent the circular pooling, at least this time around.

To me it looks like leaves, but either way I am glad to break up some of the striping. I think all the knitting a ripping paid off, I am finally happy with my lemongrass socks! My hard work, paid off I think .
We are almost totally moved in to out new place (which isn't in Virginia, but the next town over in California. I posted a while back that we decided for many reason to not move across the country but I think that post was missed by some, so yep we are still in CA and very happy about it) Just one more trip of odds and ends to move. Yay! But I am without cable/internet until next Tuesday... I am already starting to feel lost...
Not a whole lot going on
But I thought I'd take a break from the packing to show what I have been knitting. Not much really. I started some jaywalkers toe up, to take on my plane ride (last weekend) and lets just not get into what a awful fiasco that was. I had every intention for shooting a bunch of pictures, tracking their progress, but yeah that didn't happen.

Jaywalkers (come on now am I the LAST person to knit these?) Socks that Rock, Lightweight, in Hot Flash. This was their special color I picked up at Stitches, with some of the money going toward breast cancer research. A little pooling but I am happy.

Now my favorite color of STR in my stash is Lemongrass, as seen above. It is medium weight, but it still knits up at about 8spi on 2.5mm, for me anyway. I love this color but I have had a heck of a time finding the right pattern. For some reason I am not feeling simple socks, but so far I have gone through 4 different variations. Two are seen below:

Jaywalkers, too big and to much pooling.

P- socks, again too big. Nice pattern though, I want to knit these soon. Before these two there was two slipped stitch patterns. But tonight there will be yet another draft, I am copying Yahaira, and I think it is gonna work out perfect! Do you ever feel like your yarn hasn't found the right pattern yet. Like it isn't worthy of your ideas. Well thats how I have felt about lemongrass.... but I will be knitting with it soon!
just checkin in

um, how exactly am I going to get through all 1140 unread entries on bloglines? Have I mentioned I am moving, changing jobs and recovering from the longest weekend, full of bad airport stories? um, yeah. I am around but it is gonna take me a while to catch up, this is why I have asked for Vito help. But even he is astonished.
knitting, yeah well.... I think I am gonna go do that....
Fixated
Socks, um yeah, more socks....

My first time with some Cascade Fixation, squishy and stretchy. Not so easy (for me anyway) to have consistent tension, with all that stretch, but the finished product seems worth the work. Since I want these to be fast, I am knitting them on 3's. Only problem is I don't think 2 balls are going to be enough, these are pretty dense and I for what I can tell I don't think I have enough yarn left in the first ball to finish this sock. ah such is life, but I am pressin on.

Someone may need to take the sock needles away from me, so I can complete something that is not a foot accessory. I am thinking of joining the Amazing Lace summer knit-along. I know gasp, I am so not a joiner, but I need some motivation. And that might just be a slight push in the right direction.
Any good yarn stores in Cleveland? Something I shouldn't miss? I only have few hours and we are definitely going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but I am open to suggestions.

More finished socks...
Pattern: My own, toe up, short row heel, k3 p1...
Yarn: Sundara Sock yarn in Cirque
Needles: Addi's 2.5mm 32inch circ
Time: April 9th - May 2nd 2006!

My 10th pair of socks this year. What else can I say, great sock yarn, fast needles, and two at a time a la magic loop. Seriously I am starting to sound like a broken record. Maybe I should attempt a different heel at least, um wait no, not gonna happen. I have had a lot of readers ask me how I pick up my wraps for my short row heels. Partly because both sides of my heel turn out the same, so at some point in the future I will be writing/photoing up a tutorial.
I have started a pair of cotton socks, much different than wool, but I imagine they would be comfy to wear. What is your favorite default sock pattern? Are you a creature of habit like me?
