One Skein Wonder

We had a great time last week, sleeping in and eating sushi. On Friday we spent the whole day at the beach and even Vito had a great time. he spent most of the afternoon digging a huge hole in the sand, while Rachel and I lounged in the sun The water was a little cold but we managed to go in for a little while.

Vacation All I've Ever Wanted...

Vito and I have not disappeared for good. We are just lounging in the sun, going to the beach and taking some much need naps . My sister and her boyfriend are visiting, so we are take this opportunity for a little vacation. Next week I will be back, crafter than ever.
Nap time
Daniel and I had a great time at the concert on Saturday. We decided to only stay for a few bands since the crowd was so stupid. We got to see the Bravery, Tegan and Sara, Pinback and the Hot Hot Heat. I enjoyed Tegan and Sara the most. I had never really listen to them, and now they are my new favorite band. I can't believe all this time I have been missing out. We had a nice dinner together instead of battling the crowd for the rest of the bands.
This week is just kind of crappy, ya know crappy stuff. So not much crafty posting going on. I am just feeling a bit drained and I know if I could get to my sewing machine I would feel better. But I don't really feel like moving. Next week though my sister is coming to visit me and I am excited about that. It days like today I wish I could just go home and take a nap with my Vito:

I did start a new knitting project but I think I might keep it a secret, oh the suspense. I have some many projects going at once who would know anyway. At this point I can't even keep track.
Viva la Camo

I did some more sewing and I am actually using it today. Next time I really need to interface the outer fabric. I am trying to use the fabric I have instead of running to the fabric store every time I want to make something. So I decided to make one without the extra support of the interfacing. Also next time I think I will use an even shorter zipper so the bag is more scrunchie. But yeah I have a new purse. Here are the details:

This weekend Daniel and I are going to a concert in Santa Barbara. We bought the tickets for this show so long ago I almost forgot it was this weekend. We will be seeing: Hot Hot Heat, Pinback, Jimmy Eat World, Tegan & Sara and some other bands I can't remember. And since tomorrow is Knit in Public Day I might just bring my knitting with me. It should be a fun day! I just wish I didn't have to leave me Vito home alone all afternoon. Look at the face, who would want to leave him:

Have a great weekend!
The Sewing Nook
Now that we have moved into a one bedroom apartment, we no longer have a dinning room. Instead we sold our kitchen table and decided to make the dinning area the computer sewing area. Which is pretty stinken great on so many levels. I can listen to music on the computer, I can lean back and see the tv and I am not all by my lonesome in a cold room. Last night I relished in my new sewing area and watched CSI at the same time.
I made a little zipper pouch, which by accident is inside out. I was planing on doing some cute stitching or something on the outside, but since it turnout wrong I just left it as is and figured it was a learning experience.

A while ago my fabric store was selling zippers of ten cents each, I bought about 30 and now I am wishing that I bought more. The other day while I was in there I was going to offer them 10 bucks to take the rest of them, but they were gone and I was sad.
Here is my first attempt, at a folded wallet type thing. I couldn't resist putting a little bit of Vito love into it too. I didn't put and snaps or velcro on the inside flap, because this is just a first draft. I would like to work in more pockets and a neat closure into this as well. So for now this draft can hold my dpn's.

I finished up my back-tack swap as well. I decided to go with a needlecase and I used up the rest of the great fabric. I had intended to use some fabric from my stash as well, but everything matched so well so I just used what I received. This is the second needle roll I have made and this one turned out much better. I think it might have to do something with ironing the fabric. Sometimes I am so lazy, I don't iron, I don't measure gauge... but I wanted this to turn out well. So here it is the needle roll for my secret back-tacking friend:

Now I just need to fill up the pouch with some special things and put it in the mail. I love sewing in my new nook, I am glad to be motivated even if it only lasts a week.
