So Long!

Things are getting crazy around here, so I thought before I lose my mind I better jump on here and say goodbye. We are leaving for Vegas to my family's house for Christmas tomorrow. Then Christmas night on the red eye we are off to South Carolina. Vito will be staying with my family and their 3 other dachshunds in Vegas while we are in the south. We will be back home, on Monday the 2.

So if I don't get a chance to blog until next year have a great Christmas (or inset your holiday of choice!) And New Years,  I will thinking about all the things I need to knit in 06!

Lookie a finished object, finger less gloves from LMKG, for me! Pretty wool/mohair handpun from my local yarn shop. I made a bunch of modifications, co #, ribbing is k2p1, and I added a thumb gusset.

Because I like to knit thumb gussets and I like to write the word gusset. I better get my ends weaved in because these need to get into the suitcase.

Bye friends!

Surprise Mail Rocks

In the past two days I have received all sorts of fun stuff in the mail. All surprise. First Nadia sent me 3 mix cd's, and awesome Christmas card she goccoed herself, along with these two cute guys:

Little doxies. I don't think that she knew I collected these, of all different kinds. I am not one for anything clutter, but I do love me some kitsch doxies. Nadia thanks so much! I am so glad to see you blogging again!

Then yesterday I had a package waiting for me. From Christine, a fellow dachshund lover and owner. Go see Bella and  Ben they are pretty darn cute. She sent me some very cute dachshund ornaments. All in the likeness of my Vito! Yay little doxies for the tree (ok so I don't have a tree...shhh, remember i am leaving Thursday) but I think they need to be displayed all freaken year.

And she sent me, some SOCKS THAT ROCK yarn.

Oh, my freaken heck. I have coveted this yarn and look now I have some! I am so excited I want to drop everything including packing and stay up all night and knit me some socks. This yarn is really as amazing as everyone says it is! So soft and pretty. Really I am not sure if I can wait, maybe I can cast on now. Christine, thanks so much I am so excited! Kisses to Bella and Ben!

I am done with my knitted gifts, so I decided to knit myself up some fingerless gloves. Because I have some cold hands.

This is some bulky handspun, I bought at Village Spinning and Weaving. I think it is something the make there themselves. I am not really sure how many yards I have all together, so I am knitting them both at the same time. I am almost to the thumb gusset so I am sure I will have enough yarn to finish. I am hoping to have them done buy tomorrow.  I want to try and a work in progress post tomorrow, but we shall see. I also have to take a picture of my knitted gifts before I wrap them up.

P.S. What socks should I knit with my new Socks That Rocks, just remember the lovely Jaywalkers don't work on me.

I Must Declare

I need to quickly tell you all, the internet. That I love the Norwegian Purl. Wanna try it? Go here. Watch the video and be amazed. See I am a Continental knitter, always have been. But it wasn't till say 6 months ago i realized I was twisting all my stitches with my "combined" method of purling. Since then I have been switching back and forth between combined and some quasi half English/Continental strange method. But now, now I will have method to my madness. No more trying to remember which project I knit which way.

I'd say this is all quite a bold statement, for someone who only start purling the Norwegian way, um about five minutes ago. Has anyone done any Moebius Knitting? I'd like to make this for my mom at some point. Do I need to get the book A Treasury of Magical Knitting, to learn the secret ways?

Nothing Much to Report

My crafty time has been spent finishing up Christmas presents, all of which are almost done. So the exciting posts around here are few. I realized today I need to start getting ready for our vacation, which means doing one of my favorite things: Making Lists! We are leaving next Thursday, it seems the time has really gotten away from me. I have a bunch of household items to take care of before we leave. Even them I might be taking a bunch of dirty clothes to my family house to wash.

We did finish up our Christmas shopping yesterday. And even left with a little something for us. Ok, really it was for Daniel, but I think I maybe more excited.

A little something to distract me even more.  Now since things are so slow around here I am going to reveal how dorky I really am. I can't wait to go home so I can set up my own characters in:

This is going to really cut into my knitting time.  But luckily I have to share with Daniel.... unless someone wants to get me my own ds for Christmas.... hint hint.
