Focus on the Positive

 371429050_ceb3f225e0.jpg

So I didn't realized that my last post was written so close to blue monday until Deb pointed it out, D'oh. That might explain my blah post. So now I figured I should talk some happy things that I love. You know I love lists,
so here is a list of some things I love right now.

Vinyl toys, especially the cute ones!

Cinnamon Dolce Lattes from S'bucks. I believe they put crack in these. I recommend not looking at the nutritional facts.

Regina Spektor, Fidelity. The whole album is amazing.

Cherry Sodas, in glass bottles. It is the real sugar that makes it so good.

This photo on flickr, which is currently the back round on my laptop.

My new handcuff necklace, so cute! I need the scissors next!

Stella McCartney's Knit Bubble Coat. Knit goodness.

Google Doc's.

Signo gel pens, for some reason I need to carry around one of every color.

p.u.p.p.i.e.s.

My brand new blush, Nars Orgasm. It really is as good as they say.

Vintage yarntini, rows and rows of total cuteness.

My friend flappie and my shuffle.

Ok, I think that is enough cuteness for on day I don't want to give anyone a cavity. Sometimes I try to suppress my girliness, but I figure it is better to just embrace it. And it is good to be back. Maybe next week I will give you a sneak peak of my design, which is where all my time is going these days. Oh and the rain outside my window is pretty great right now too.

Nite!

Silent

I can't say that I want to blog once a month, but that is the way things seem to be going right now. Part of me is lacking in motivation and ideas, while the rest of me is just kind of bored. I can seem to knit more than a few rows at a time, or look at knitting blogs for more than a few minutes. I haven't even picked up my camera in a few weeks.  The other part of me is just tired of hearing about yarn diets and stranded mittens.

But I imagine that is just how it goes, I don't want to force it. And I guess my lack of excitement doesn't need to be blogged about, but I wanted to at least let my friends know I am still around. I often think about abandoning the here post and moving on, but I am not ready for that just yet. I may not have daily project updates anymore, or be joining all the latest knit alongs, but I do enjoy the distraction  from my job and such.

So how the heck are you all? Any tips on my lack of motivation? I am currently trying to get my life a bit more organized so I don't feel like I am running around like a crazy woman. I am even reading "Getting Things Done" to help me put my work life and my home if in perspective. Now, if only I could motivate myself to finish the darn book!

During my silence I did manage to finish a few things. And you know I can't have a post with out pictures so:

of course socks.

Tall socks even!

Yarn: Yarntini Sport in the "Project Runway" Colorway

Needles: 32 inch size 3 Addis

Patten: I don't need no stinkin pattern. Toe up, short row heel, 52 stitches around. Easy Peasy.

Time: Heck, I can't remember!

And look something that isn't socks! I would show you an action shot, but someone has already "borrowed" these from me!

Yarn: Koigu- 2 skeins from Purl

Needles:  Size 1 Addi 4inches dpns and 40inch size 1 Cir.

Pattern: I blatantly stole this from Anny Purls, She made them here, based off of the Hello Yarn sock pattern. I liked em so much I did exactly same thing.

My goal for 2006 was 20 pairs of socks and I completed 16, not bad.  Considering I have two pairs that are inches from being done. And don't worry there will be plenty of new yummy socks yarns around here, I may be watching my waistline, but not my yarn stash! Be back soon.

Does this match?

Some might say I have an obsession, but I would say I am more of a collector.

anarchy, neopolitan, rain, crocus, pure knits, tangle

I don't think we need to mention the colors not in this photo, culture club, koi and everyone's favorite rosie.  Well I can and will sing the praises of Georgia and her amazing yarn all day. Not only am I in love with the colors and the base yarns, I think she is pretty rad too. So imagine my amazement when this arrived in my mailbox:

misocrafty.. baby!

Can you believe it! It matches perfect! Even the guys in my life thought it was pretty cool I have a yarn color dyed after me, especially my friend who designed my graphics. Again Georgia, thank you, I just love it. The merino tencel is really nice and silky, I am in the process of finding the perfect pattern. I was thinking maybe a scarf or something, but the I am not sure, got any suggestions let me know.

Want some pirate of your own? Try here maybe around 6am (pst) on Wednesday the 15th, there might be some there....

I also have been sewing, working on a little project for a friend. I haven't made on of these scrunchie purses in a long time, but it went together perfect. The outside is a thick black wool and the inside is some fun fabric that yahaira sent me. I almost didn't want to give it up, but I think it might be possible for a girl to have too many purses, oh, wait, no. A girl can never have too many handbags, but this one is off to a good home.

The Weekender

Two fun things:

 271797740_ce99cf28f9.jpg

I finished the Weekend Travel Bag!

I even took it with me this weekend, for a short out of town trip. I think it is perfect! Now, the sewing, um isn't perfect, but I love it. This was a lot of work. So much fabric to cut and sew, I swear you have to sew every piece of fabric like 4 times. But I do also think the end result was worth the work.

 271797736_b5b4189ed6.jpg

I used an Amy Butler print for the outside and a solid brown for the trim. The inside is lined in a light pink. I spent the extra money for the Timtex interfacing, and I think it made all the difference. Sure it was $9 a yard but nothing else compared to it stand up ability. If you plan on making this bag it is worth it to splurge. Make sure to read the pattern over a few times, the only thing I found confusing was she tends to state the same thing twice. That and the fact that the bottom of the bag had to be trim, those were my only issues with this project. I would make another, I would just need to clear my schedule for about a week!

The other fun thing is:

I have been blogging on this here internet for two years! Wow. I never thought when I starting on blogger 2 years ago that I would still be around. Even though the internet bores me sometimes, I'm not leaving, where would I get all my sock inspiration. Yep, it's all about the socks!
