Silent

I can't say that I want to blog once a month, but that is the way things seem to be going right now. Part of me is lacking in motivation and ideas, while the rest of me is just kind of bored. I can seem to knit more than a few rows at a time, or look at knitting blogs for more than a few minutes. I haven't even picked up my camera in a few weeks.  The other part of me is just tired of hearing about yarn diets and stranded mittens.

But I imagine that is just how it goes, I don't want to force it. And I guess my lack of excitement doesn't need to be blogged about, but I wanted to at least let my friends know I am still around. I often think about abandoning the here post and moving on, but I am not ready for that just yet. I may not have daily project updates anymore, or be joining all the latest knit alongs, but I do enjoy the distraction  from my job and such.

So how the heck are you all? Any tips on my lack of motivation? I am currently trying to get my life a bit more organized so I don't feel like I am running around like a crazy woman. I am even reading "Getting Things Done" to help me put my work life and my home if in perspective. Now, if only I could motivate myself to finish the darn book!

During my silence I did manage to finish a few things. And you know I can't have a post with out pictures so:

of course socks.

Tall socks even!

Yarn: Yarntini Sport in the "Project Runway" Colorway

Needles: 32 inch size 3 Addis

Patten: I don't need no stinkin pattern. Toe up, short row heel, 52 stitches around. Easy Peasy.

Time: Heck, I can't remember!

And look something that isn't socks! I would show you an action shot, but someone has already "borrowed" these from me!

Yarn: Koigu- 2 skeins from Purl

Needles:  Size 1 Addi 4inches dpns and 40inch size 1 Cir.

Pattern: I blatantly stole this from Anny Purls, She made them here, based off of the Hello Yarn sock pattern. I liked em so much I did exactly same thing.

My goal for 2006 was 20 pairs of socks and I completed 16, not bad.  Considering I have two pairs that are inches from being done. And don't worry there will be plenty of new yummy socks yarns around here, I may be watching my waistline, but not my yarn stash! Be back soon.

you better be knitting missy or I'll have to go over there and crack a whip!

ps I don't say "missy" in real life

Nice to hear from you. I think we all go through stages and eventually they pass. You'll see something that will get the creative juices flowing again. Just give it time.

I know what you mean... It's impossible to always be bright and cheerful. But even if you're not perky, I still think you have something to contribute. Like those lovely socks and fingerless gloves! (and a beautiful blog design that I never tire of).

bummer you're feeling not so inspired! I know when I'm feeling like that I just dive into my materials and see what comes out. No plan, just playing. it's worked for me.

or you could make more pouches to sell... (sorry that's my selfish side talking! I've been coveting one forever!)

Just with go with whatever you're feeling. We'll all be here if and when you decide to post. Lots of us have you "Bloglined," so we'll know when you do. The list of things I want to knit is a mile long right now, and I keep casting on new stuff. But I once went a year (2004, I think) without knitting a stitch. I was more interested in cuisine, so I cooked a lot, did a little cross stitch, but mostly I didn't worry about it. I got jumped started again when I saw a Hanne Falkenberg kit on eBay in a wonderful shade of purple. I could feel the needles in my hands! I haven't paused much since. A week at most. But I expect I'll have other dry spells.

Hi Jo! Don't worry about the blog burnout. I did it and here I am, still here reading (and posting to LJ now). Sometimes its necessary to take a break and recharge the batteries. Hope you guys are doing well - married life is treating me great, good enough to counteract the bad that is law school ;)

Your blog ennui is not surprising since yesterday was the most depressing day of the year! But you're missed when you're gone!

I agree the yarn diet stuff is getting old...how about joining me in knitting the Forest Path Stole? It may be a challenge...lace and entrelac, oh my! All the info is on my blog if you're so inclined :)

Whatever you decide, feel better! BTW, I love the socks and the wristers!

geeze, gotta love that yarntini, it's so perfect! And I too am tired of yarn diets, but that's possibly for my own selfish reasons.

I've had months where I go without spinning or knitting anything...but I eventually get back to the needles or wheel. I have to say that reading your short row heel tutorial changed got me back into sock knitting after a slump :)

Both projects look great! It was good to hear from you - I understand about needing to take a break - sometimes the blog browsing can overload & overwhelm.

Glad to see you're back, Jo. I've been feeling the posting doldrums as of late, but I'm trying not to worry about it too much. Love the socks and the finger-less mittens, or whatever they're called!

I lose my motvation sometimes. Don't sweat it, just do whatever else you need to do and knit when you feel like it. I felt a lot better when I decided I'd just blog when I felt like it no matter how infrequently.

I hear you on the blog blahs. I don't have any advice but I think everyone feels that way from time to time. You never know when that enthusiasm might come back!
