Ankles

Ta da, my picot anklets are done.

I love them.

Yarn:  Yarn Pirate in Culture Club from Pure Knits... and charcoal gray Louet Pearl from Tangle.

Needles:  2mm Addis 40inchs and clover 2mm dpns

Pattern:  2 at a time, magic loop, picot cuff, with a center decrease afterthought heel from The Twisted Sister Sock Book. All followed up with a wide toe.

Time:   Started Aug 11- Finished Aug 17th.

I am glad I tried an afterthought heel. I like how it turnout out. Easier than a short row heel, and way less holes. It won't become my heel of choice though, because I didn't like how my sock was finished and then I had to go back and do the heel. But on occasion I will use it partly because it was so fun!

Do I need to tell you again how very much I love this yarn? I have two more color ways I need to share another day. Georgia does such a great job picking out colors and dyeing in interesting combinations! Plus I really prefer her thinner tighter twisted yarn. It appears my 2mm addis are going to be bust for a while.  I still have enough Culture Club left to make a full size pair of socks too!

And while we are talking about ankles, I thought I would share this as well. Click here to see the notes.

Late Monday night I got a call while I was in a work meeting, from my husband. He was on his way to the emergency room. He had a bad fall while skateboarding at the park. And yep he broke his leg about 2 inches up from his ankle. He only broke one of the two bones, so that was good. But the Dr. wants to see him again next week to make sure he doesn't need surgery.

So we are getting ready for our weekend at home, relaxing and watching movies. Heres hoping that it heals ok on its own! I feel so bad for him, but honestly I think I enjoy being his nurse:) So it seems for the next 6/8 weeks we will have a lot of time at home, him healing and me well.... knitting.

OW OW OW! Ugggg....I hate broken bones. Poor guy.

On a happier note, I love your socks. I've been meaning to try an afterthought heel. I just checked EZ's Knitting Without Tears out from the library, and it has instructions on how to do them, so I may give it a try on my next pair of socks.

the socks are precious! I'll have to knit some little ankle socks like this soon. I should've been greedy and kept a skein of that colorway for myself. oh well, she's dyeing up more!

eeek! those are great! i love the contrasting heel and toe and the picot edge is adorable.

Your poor husband. That must be really painful. It sounds like you are taking good care of him.

The picot anklets are even more adorable than I expected them to be. The contrasting heel and toe are perfect.

Ouch! Well, if he needs a cast, you can knit him some cute toe covers...

Great anklets!

I LOVE the socks. I will now have to try this heel. and the PICOT edge is simply you!!! What if you got to the toe and then did the heel before you started it. That way you would be done with the whole sock! I am happy you knit socks! They are sooooo cute.

Oh no! That's a bummer about your hubby's ankle. I hope he doesn't need surgery. You'll have to knit him something to put over a cast -- hey, that could be a new product! Cast socks...in different designs and stuff. Maybe more for women than men. Anyways. Have fun knitting! I love your anklets.

Cute socks. Sorry to hear about the broken ankle, but at least you'll get some quality time together.
