Help a girl out...

 176799079_78bcc1a9de_m.jpg

Wow, has it really been two weeks. My where does the time go. I haven't even thought much about blogging lately. Knitting, sure, there is always knitting. That is just second nature. But blogging, I guess I have been enjoying the summer too much.  So all is well here, finished objects to show soon, just waiting for the "photoshoot". So  don't kick me out of blog land just yet -k.

For those of you who are still around, not off on a fabulous vacation I need your help. My bestest friend is opening a yarn store.... so tell me you favorite needle brands. Your everyday and what you would pick up when you need something special. Bamboo over metal? I wanna know that too. Thanks!

* My new necklace, was picked up for me by my husband at magic mountian this week. I think it is super fun!

I LOVE all crystal palace needles and they're not easy to find in stores. I also hear that plymouth bamboo needles are as good as the CP ones, but I've never tried them because I can't get a hold of them either.

Great necklace! I hope you got some funnel cake with it, too! My favs, addis, addis and addis! ;) And I like Crystal Palace DPNs!

Your asking my opinion? I always have an opinion! ;) Lets see.... for needles, I'm all about Addis. (Warning flag... KnitPicks has a new nickel plated needle that is likely to make the Addi/Inox Express sales drop. Luckily the standard circulars don't come in larger than a us3) I really really like Bryspuns circs, too. Warm, flex cable, nice taper. Also, Lantern Moon ebony DPN's make my day. Bamboo? Ick. Giant pandas can have it.

I only use addis. I'm a total snob and won't knit with anything else.

Nice necklace. How fun. Well, needles. Now there's a thorny question. My all time favorite needles are Holz & Stein, but I don't think you can get them in the US (although if you could I'd be a slave for life). I like Addi Naturas - good joins and the lovely Addi cord. Addi Turbos for some things. I like shorter dpns for socks - 5 or 6 inches and I have some Addi Naturas that are 6" that I like. Oh, and I like Brittay birch needles too - great company.

Manos del Uruguay, Manos del Uruguay, Manos del Uruguay, Manos del Uruguay!!!!

My absolute favorite yarn in all the colors and variety. Okay, sorry for the redundancy...but I love that yarn.

And what a sweet gift from your hubby. That's a pretty cool necklace. Glad to see you're back! I was worried about you not blogging anymore.

that is so awesome and exciting for your friend, and subsequently for you! i have so many needles--i use everything depending on what yarn i am using. addis for cotton and mohair and stuff like that, and plain old bamboo for wool and slicker yarns. although--i do love some lantern moon needles, too. their rosewood and palmwoods are particularly fab and make great gifts. so do their needle cases--they are pricey, but so worth it!

glad to see you posting btw--i've missed you!

The necklace is fabulous!! How thoughtful. Hmm, I'm completely and totally an Addi Turbo girl. But I think you need a line of metal and a line of bamboo, because people are as vehement about which they prefer as they are about mac vs pc.

Adorable necklace!

I'm a metal girl. Bamboo needles just feel wrong, same with plastic- although I do use both, if I need to.

I love going into a yarn store that is organized. I don't really care what's in it- a yarn store is heaven after all, regardless of the products inside, but I have to be able to find what I need or have someone who works there find what I need quick.

Standard circ is inox though it may change to knitpicks needles. I get Addi's if I'm treating myself or working on a big project just because I like the smoother join.

For dpns, I go with inox 6" dpns. The crucial part is the metal and 6-7 inches, so brittany birch really doesn't cut it for me.

On the other side of the retail fence, it is important to be able to receive an order relatively quickly and painlessly so you don't need to stock 6 needles of every size in your backroom. Certain distributors ship faster than others. Some have better on-hand stock.

Good luck to your friend!

I'm allergic to nickel, so Addis are out. I like bamboo or wood so use Clover and Crystal Palace longs. I don't use circs unless forced and then I like the CP wood tipped ones. My small hands and interest in knitting socks and gloves make Brittany 5" a dream. I always look locally but can never find them. I want to love Lantern Moon. I really do. But one broke and another tip cracked so I think I'll just leave them in a vase to look at.

Don't forget needle holders. Those flat ones with sewn pockets are terrific and I can never find enough of them. (I need one set for work, one for home and one for the car. So stop laughing.)
