My 10th pair of socks this year. What else can I say, great sock yarn, fast needles, and two at a time a la magic loop. Seriously I am starting to sound like a broken record. Maybe I should attempt a different heel at least, um wait no, not gonna happen. I have had a lot of readers ask me how I pick up my wraps for my short row heels. Partly because both sides of my heel turn out the same, so at some point in the future I will be writing/photoing up a tutorial.

I have started a pair of cotton socks, much different than wool, but I imagine they would be comfy to wear. What is your favorite default sock pattern? Are you a creature of habit like me?

I'm very jealous that you got them to stripe so nicely - they are simply gorgeous! Enjoy wearing them!

ooh, that yarn is sooooo pretty. fantastic socks! I love 'em.

btw, which cotton sock yarn are you using? I've been looking for a good cotton sock yarn.

I haven't knit enough socks to have a default pattern although I have, on more than one occasion, used the Lorna's Laces basic pattern I received with my first sock yarn. I'm anxious to learn your short-row method as I'm just finishing my first toe-up socks with short rows, and I'm less than pleased with my results.

Great socks! Though I like to try new sock patterns (Pomatomus is next) when knitting a neat yarn like Cirque I use a ribbed cuff and stockinette top and foot so as not to distract from the color and pooling the color may make. The rib may be longer or shorter, single or double, and there's always heel tweeking going on. I don't think I've ever done a short row heel the same way twice! Your pix are fantastic too. I actually bought Cirque after seeing your pictures. What kind of camera do you have? I need to upgrade.

Your socks are so lovely! I can't believe that you knit both socks at the same time...my mind boggles at the thought of managing that.

I love also with these varigated yarns how the socks come out so stripey. Your knitting almost makes me wish I could knit.

...well, almost...

I love also your boobie-holder. It's very cute and the colour is very striking.

Yay! for Jo's knitting.

Hey Joelene, I completely agree that the tried and true pattern is the way to go. I do the same with my handwarmers.

You must post tutorial! I love your socks, they're very cute. What kind of toe do you use? It looks very comfy.

I don't have a "fallback" pattern. I try to find a new pattern for each pair, which ends up making it take a little while to knit, but it keeps me interested. =)

oooh, great socks! I love how your boobholder turned out, too.

Such amazing socks- the yarn is really wonderful! Looking forward to your short row heel tutorial to see how you do it and whether it's different from how I do them- there is definitely more to it than "knit the stitch with the wrap"!!

Oooh! I like the new banner.
