I Must Declare

I need to quickly tell you all, the internet. That I love the Norwegian Purl. Wanna try it? Go here. Watch the video and be amazed. See I am a Continental knitter, always have been. But it wasn't till say 6 months ago i realized I was twisting all my stitches with my "combined" method of purling. Since then I have been switching back and forth between combined and some quasi half English/Continental strange method. But now, now I will have method to my madness. No more trying to remember which project I knit which way.

I'd say this is all quite a bold statement, for someone who only start purling the Norwegian way, um about five minutes ago. Has anyone done any Moebius Knitting? I'd like to make this for my mom at some point. Do I need to get the book A Treasury of Magical Knitting, to learn the secret ways?

That's amazing! I can't wait to try it. I've never come across that website before, it looks like it'll really come in handy!
Thanks for another great resource,

I think you might have to get the book. One of the teachers is teaching a moebius neck warmer, I'll ask for ya.

Weird! I've never heard of that. Now from watching the videos, I realize I do "German" method. The Norwegian thing looked like an extra step to me.

PS re: the Moebius...
The girl I call the "I love to punish myself with impossible knitting" person in my Stitch n Bitch group is knitting a Moebius shawl or something. Last I heard she had to rip back 8 rows of 360 stitches on size 4 needles because the pattern was confusing and she messed up. I think she was LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

I mean if you're into that kind of thing.

Wow, that Norwegian Method is some crazy stuff. I purl continental though I don't push down with my finger like the woman in those videos does, I have my own weird way, anyway it does look like an extra step to me but if helps you get untwisted, then bring it on.

You won't need the book if you get one of the Thrummed Moebius kits - Cat Bordhi collaborated with Fleece Artist and everything you need to know, including the Moebius Cast-On, is included in the pattern that comes with the kit. Of course, all of Cat's books are fantastic so there's no rule that says you can get both the book and the kit. :-)

It shouldn't be a problem to add the novelty yarn.

Sounds tricky! Glad you're being inspired! The shawl thing looks really neat, though.

Thanks for the link - I've been in the same boat as you re: purling, so I'm excited to check this out.

I've made a zillion mobius strips not paying attention when joining things knitted in the round. It never occurred to me to intentionally do that- boy that is a lovely wrap. I have always wanted to try thrumming something- maybe I should try it now.
